Safe connection of gas bottles.

First check whether the black rubber seal is present in the nut of the pressure regulator. Then firmly attach the connection nut of the pressure regulator (left-hand thread) to the gas bottle. Use a wrench (hand-tight is not sufficient), but do not over tighten the nut as well, which can cause the rubber ring to lose its flexibility after frequent use. Hold the pressure regulator with the top side up when tightening the nut.

After connecting, you can turn the handwheel of the tap counterclockwise to open the gas supply of the bottle. Propane gas is thickened in liquid in bottles. It is colorless, non-toxic and environmentally friendly. Propane gas is heavier than air and in the event of a leak it spreads over the ground. Even when it's freezing, propane gas can still be used.

Freezing gas bottles

It is important to know that there is a possibility that gas bottles can freeze over a longer period of use and that the flame will then go out. Freezing is a problem of the gas cylinder and unfortunately there is little to do about it, it is because propane (or any other type of gas) needs time to convert the liquid gas to vapor gas. If the gas bottle is small (5 kg) or if the flames are very high for a long time, then the gas bottle simply has insufficient time for that process.

But there is nothing wrong with your patio fireplace, the gas cylinder does not have to be empty either. On the part that is frozen (white frost on the bottle) one can see how much gas is left in the bottle. After a while (15-25 minutes) the fireplace can be switched on again.

THE SOLUTION: With the larger bottles of at least 10 or 12 kg, freezing will not occur quickly !! With a gas bottle of 5 kg this problem will occur faster.

SAFE USE OF GAS BOTTLES

  1. Caution in all situations is extremely important.
  2. Always keep children at a safe distance from the gas product.
  3. Always follow the instructions that come with the gas product.
  4. Always use the designated fuel specified on the manual.
  5. Gas bottles must always be used upright.
  6. Gas bottles must be secured during transport.
  7. With a standard gas bottle you always have a safety cap that must be placed on the gas bottle during transport.
  8. Gas is a volatile fuel, so make sure there is no open flame nearby when connecting and closing.
  9. Never dig in a gas bottle.
  10. If possible, place the gas cylinder in the shade.
  11. Use only approved gas hoses and gas accessories and replace them in time.
  12. Always close the gas tap after use.
  13. Never fill the gas bottles yourself.
  14. When changing the gas bottle, check all couplings for leaks.

PAY ATTENTION:

Never use an open flame (lighter) to check the tightness of the couplings! Use a gas leak spray or some soap suds for this !!

Always use a hose specially designed for your propane or butane gas installation.
This can be recognized by the following print:
* Industrial application: NEN-EN 559
* General application: NEN-EN 1763-1

Replace the gas accessories in time:

  • Orange hose for propane gas (directive: replace after 3 - 5 years).
  • Black hose for natural gas only (directive: replace after 5 years).
  • The guideline to replace a gas pressure regulator is once every 3 - 5 years
  • The gray and green steel bottles are well known by many and are sold throughout the country.
  • Propane is a slightly more expensive gas, but can be used up to - 44 degrees Celsius.
  • The green (5 kg) bottles are owned. If you exchange this bottle, the inspection year will be settled with the replacement gas bottle.
  • If you get a newer bottle then you pay something extra and you get an older bottle then you pay less.
  • The gray (10 kg) bottles work with a deposit. The price of the deposit and the filling varies per point of sale.
  • If you exchange the bottle, you only pay for the filling of the new bottle.
